A Mauritian Thatcher? The War of Sulakshna Runjeet of SEVA against the Mauritian Ruling Class

Loading

Sulakshna Runjeet has caused a political earthquake in Mauritius. Behind closed doors, many are speaking about a young lady who represents a real menace to the status quo. The first female prime minister of Mauritius, hailing from a Hindu pro-party, has garnered the support of tens of thousands on her Facebook account by threatening capitalist leeches while offering a hand to minorities to unite in a fight against dynasty politics and the status quo. Both Ramgoolam and Pravin are terrified of a Hindu revolt against the corrupt white elites, as they will be the first on the firing line. Ironically, this is the very reform Roshi Bhadain was supposed to represent. The Mauritian people are now listening to a new voice offering them the Mauritian Dream.

Sulakshna Runjeet, the director of Supam Export Ltd, an aquaculture company, founded SEVA, a new anti-capitalist and populist political party.

The main focus of SEVA appears to be on small entrepreneurs and planters—the little man whom the political elites have long forgotten. She will call each planter, businessman, student, and old person; one by one everyday in her battle to speak to them and to listen to their problems.

In one of her speeches, Sulakshana aimed directly at the jugular veins of Business Mauritius (the economic elites comprising mostly of whites), calling out the sugar barons, capitalists, and colonial masters, which means the white elites who financed traditional political parties. Dawood Rawat was the last dissident to wage war against these powerful descendants of slave owners, and we all know how badly he lost. To fight such a war alone is indeed a courageous move by Sulakshna Runjeet—a war many ‘male’ politicians run from.

Some key points Sulakshna is not afraid to discuss.

  1. She threatened to force the white elites to return the thousands of hectares of agricultural land in two months or face a punitive tax.
  2. She calls directly upon the Hindu community in the rural areas of Mauritius to support her, bypassing all political jargon and nonsense words most politicians like Bachoo or Navin use in 4–14.
  3. She directly attacked the mainstream media as capitalist brainwashing tools and fake news.
  4. She is vocally opposed to capitalist political financing as a neo-colonial tool.
  5. She denounced the fact that Hindus in rural areas are still under the control of white elites and promised a second economic miracle to free them.
  6. She is not afraid to denounce the many mafias currently in control of Mauritius’s food imports, especially in the Mauritian milk industry.
  7. She will make it illegal for foreigners to buy Mauritian land.
  8. She is for self-sufficiency in the food industry- a kind of Autarky that threaten retaliations from international lobbies.

This no-nonsense approach is very appealing to even core PTR political agents, who admitted that Sulakshna’s fight is ‘Difer’ and that SEVA’s appeal surpasses that of the combined agendas of MSM and PTR. Will Mauritius’ Iron Lady succeed in becoming prime minister? Or will she end up like Dawood Rawat? Time will tell, but for now, her words are causing panic and sleepless nights for many of the corrupt politicians and their mistresses.
